WILL A HOME OFFICE ADD VALUE TO YOUR PROPERTY?

The year of 2020 has seen an unprecedented amount of the population working from home. As excited as you were at first, it does bring a fair amount of invasion to your private space down the line. The longer you need to work remotely, the more comfortable you want to make your workspace at home.

A lot of people are now using Zoom, Skype and other video conferencing whilst they work from their homes. And not a lot of us planned for such an outcome, so there aren't many houses or flats that had a purpose-built home office ready for use in such a situation.

This got many home owners thinking of some permanent alterations, or perhaps a need for renovations. So what effect does this have on the value of your property? Is it really worth the large expense in the end?

First prize would be to rearrange an existing spare room into a study, or maybe some attic space that is liveable but empty.

However if this space is not available... You can choose to convert your garage into a home office, Consider using your old Garden Shed or Build a Multipurpose Extension, One thing is for certain... Things will never go back to "normal" post Covid-19.

Many People will continue to work from home and when they look to buy a new house, one with a home office may be much more attractive to them. Since it is no longer needed for people to live close to their office either, you might have more buyers from other areas interested in your property as well which should ultimately increase the final sale price that you are able to achieve.

  • Sufficient Power Points
  • Natural Light and Windows for Fresh Air
  • Multi-purpose Build-in Cabinets

Always be weary of overcapitalizing on your investment. Consult your estate agent for advice and research on the highest selling price in your area.
